MY LIFE ROCKS!

I've got a lot to update you on! My mental health, getting paid by Google, the Third Cursed Conlang Circus, my holiday to Europe, my new job, Dimension 20, university, my neighbourhood, Assassins. Let's go!

My mental health

I feel WAY better now! I'm still up and down, but death is WAY less of a fear at the moment (I do still have the odd panic attack, but it's wayyyy better than it was). I've devised a SYSTEM of hanging out with friends. What I have is a note in my notes app, where I track how long it's been since I hung out with all my friends. Then, at the first of every month, I organise hangouts with all of them! I've been seeing friends soooo much more often since I got back from my holiday (more on that later!). It's rocked! Also, there was the Pride Parade the other day! It rocked, I marched with a different org this year (Thriving in Motion), but in the same outfit haha.

I'm currently listening to Vylet Pony's new album, Monarch of Monsters. It's SO FUCKING GOOD! As usual, there are songs that really drag, but...I'll leave that for the music blog that I still haven't gotten around to. Some people say "gotten round", or "turned round"...they say "round" instead of "around". It's crazy! Madness!

I'M GETTING PAID

I FINALLY FIXED ALL OF THE SHIT GOOGLE HAS BEEN THROWING AT ME!!! I CAN FINALLY GET PAID!!! I confirmed my address tonight (on my third attempt, because they couldn't understand my address on any of the other times I tried, not that they told me that though...), and soon my YouTube Studios should catch up and let me re-activate all my memberships and monetisation and stuff like that! You know what this means? A RETURN TO YOUTUBE IS IMMINENT! Now that I've crushed one of the bugs that was really fucking with me, and it's hit November (I always get back into YouTube towards the New Year). Watch this space! Big things coming soon!

The Third Cursed Conlang Circus

The optional themes for this year's Cursed Conlang Circus were "proto-language" and "tell a story". There were heaps of super great entries, but I reckon my one was pretty good. Well, it was alright. But it was at the very least very funny. It contains perhaps the funniest phrase ever said on Rhea's Language Academy: "I tripped over and ate shit on a bollard" (spoken in a Graham Hancock impersonation).
I definitely could've developed the language a lot better. It's good enough as is, but not winning material. In fact, the language is hardly even focused on in the video - almost 100% of the focus is on phonology, with one section dedicated to word order. All the rest of the runtime is jokes and bits, which do admittedly rock and are very funny imho. Only Redditors say "imho", imho. Anyways.
I had a few ideas for this year's entry: there was Future Australian, which would've been fun and could've actually ended up a better entry, but felt too shallow of an idea; there was also a language entirely made out of my vocal tics, but unfortunately that idea can be summed up in a single sentence, which is good for a YouTube video but not for a CCC entry; the idea I settled on was a sort of offcut from a larger idea I've been working on since 2023: a parody of Graham Hancock and everything he stands for. Doing my best Graham Hancock impersonation, having genuinely not listened to his voice in over a year, I made a video about some bullshit delusion he had come up with, due to having eaten shit on a bollard, and reverse-engineered fake scientific evidence, full of obvious fallacies and biases, until he had made a conspiracy theory. If you're into Milo Rossi etc. it's a pretty sick takedown, but it's also just a fun video for everyone. The reason I chose this concept over any others is just because my heart was the most in it, even if I could've made a better conlang with another concept.
You know what rocks? A parent reached out to me on Discord the other day and told me that their kid, who makes YouTube videos, has been quoting that line about me eating shit on a bollard non-stop since he watched my video (I told you it was a funny line! My delivery really sells it), and actually referenced it in one of his videos. That rocks! I've been referenced in someone else's YouTube video!! I'm getting quoted by a kid! It really delivered me a sense of pride that I didn't see coming.

MY HOLIDAY TO EUROPE

I WENT TO EUROPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I made friends! I adventured! I cooled off in waterfalls! I warmed up in hot springs! I made friends with a Texan woman in the Arctic! I piloted a dog "sled"! I met online friends for the first time! I stayed with strangers! I speedran the Natural History Museum! I got stranded in the worst suburb of London! I visited another suburb of London which felt like another country! I reunited with a woman who cared for me as a child! I got a cold in the Arctic! I could tell you all about it, and I will! But not tonight. It's 1AM, and I have shit to do in the morning. What I'm gonna do is read back through my journal, and then upload digital summaries of each day of my holiday to my Journal page, and have a full summary up here. It was the coolest month of my life. Svalbard is my second-favourite place on Earth, after my station.

The one source of grief I haven't been able to escape recently is that my parents are selling the cattle station I grew up on. It's heartbreaking. That station has been in the family for over a century. No one else has ever lived on or cared for that land. My father's heart is breaking, and his health is failing, but neither me nor my sisters wanted to take over the reins from him, so it's now being sold off to someone else. True heartbreak. I've finally lived long enough that the things of my childhood are disappearing. First my nanna, then the only home I've ever known. It's a really sad feeling.
At least, for everything that disappears, a new thing will take its place. See below my exploration of my neighbourhood :)

My new job!

I AM FINALLY EMPLOYED AGAIN! I've just gotten a new job as a receptionist at a fancy hotel! I'm living the dream! I start on Monday, and during my first week I'm working 38 hours!!!! One six-hour day, followed by four eight-hour days...all with 6AM starts. I'm gonna have to wake up at 4AM to get there on time. It's really rough...but hey, it's gonna be GOOD FUCKIN MONEY! And plus, it'll be way better than fuckin McDonald's was.
Oh yeah, my old job? Unceremoniously fired after months of no contact. Didn't even fuckin email me! Fuckers.
I'm so excited about what I'm gonna be able to afford with all the money I'm gonna be making! I did the maths: for next week's 38 hours, I'm gonna be making OVER A GRAND!! I'VE NEVER MADE THAT MUCH MONEY BEFORE!! I think the most money I've ever made in a week is like, less than $500 for sure. A THOUSAND BUCKS IN ONE WEEK'S WORK!? HALLELUJAH!! I'm gonna be able to buy a PC!!! I'm gonna be able to buy a euphonium!!! I'm gonna be able to afford a multi-camera setup and FINALLY make that game show channel I've been dreaming of! HALLELUJAH!
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous to suddenly be working essentially full-time, potentially all the way until next year. I'd be lying if I said I thought I was ready to expend all that energy and not turn into a zombie.
But I'd be lying even more if I said I didn't want that fuckin money.
I can't wait to not be financially dependant on the wretched whore that is my future mother in law. The sooner she stops paying part of our rent, the better.

Dimension 20

I still really like D20 :з my favourtie season is A Starstruck Odyssey, but Mice & Murder is a close runner-up. I'm currently on Episode 14 of Neverafter - I initially didn't think I'd enjoy Neverafter, cuz I hated Crown of Candy and tend to like goofier seasons more, but actually this season has been surprisingly goofy. My favourite bit so far - actually, no...I'm gonna just list off my favourite moment from each season! If I skip a season, it means I haven't seen it yet.
  • Fantasy High - The sexy rat
  • Unsleeping City - Esther's grandma can't find even a little darkness in Ricky's soul
  • Fantasy High: Sophomore Year - Baron from the Baronies
  • Crown of Candy - Calroy's betrayal
  • Unsleeping City: Chapter II - Kingston nervously rambles to Liz about having a baby for six straight minutes
  • Mice & Murder - Buckster bursts in and declares that he has solved the case; OR Sylvester discovers Daily's letters
  • Misfits & Magic - Evan lectures the cauldron on politics
  • A Starstruck Odyssey - Gunny waiting in line for a mapel cake; OR The Junk Mother
  • Neverafter - Pinocchio's attempts at being funny; OR Red's backstory
  • Fantasy High: Junior Year - Porter's reveal >:з
  • Never Stop Blowing Up - The Sidewinders

  • I love this freakin show :з

    University

I've finished my first year of university!!! I got a high distinction in linguistics, and that's all that matters! Unfortunately, in order to go to Europe and not fail two out of my three units which require in-person participation (which comprise three out of four units in total), I had to drop two units, so I'm gonna have to make them up somewhere along the line. Ah well, it was worth it! I think I did really good to catch up on the half-a-semester of linguistics content I missed during my holiday, AND to write a pretty good short story for my Creative Writing unit (the only other unit I didn't drop). That pissed me off - why could a fucking creative writing unit not forgive in-person absence?? It's a WRITING CLASS. Fuckin ell. Anyway.

    My Neighbourhood

I've been exploring my neighbourhood more and more on my bike lately, and actually mapping out the different areas of it that I've ridden through. I've ridden suuuper far on my bike lately - I rode all the way to the Swan River bank, where I could see Burswood! Then I rode all the way to Coles! And I kinda got lost on the way there and back, but I made it! I want to map out my neighbourhood, my part of Perth, like a kinda fantasy map. Y'know, like, woods are here, fancy houses here, bougie shops here, etc.

    Assassins

I got into my first proper theatre performance outside of high school! I'm in a production of my favourite musical EVER, Assassins! I'm part of the ensemble, which I'm really happy about. I wasn't actually their first choice, but someone declined their offer and I got it instead! Woohoo! It's a really easy ensemble to be a part of: we're only in three numbers, and only really sing in two of them. I love this show.

    Conclusion

Yeah, my life freakin rocks. I'll update you on my European holiday and my new job and my return to YouTube at a later date!
